SPHERE Project Consortium

The document “Acronyms in the SPHERE Project Environment” is a comprehensive glossary developed as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 SPHERE project (Grant Agreement No. 820805). It compiles over 1,200 acronyms and abbreviations relevant to Building Information Modelling (BIM), Digital Twins, construction management, sustainability, and ICT systems in the built environment. The list covers key technical, methodological, and organizational concepts used across SPHERE’s research and implementation domains—ranging from 1D–9D BIM dimensions to digital data management frameworks, lifecycle analysis, IoT integration, and environmental assessment methodologies. Serving as a linguistic and technical reference, this document ensures consistent communication and interoperability among project partners, industry professionals, and researchers involved in the digitalization of the construction sector.
